Zippy’s Chili Recipe (original) – Hawaiian Copycat Recipes
If you are from or have ever spent any time in Hawaii Then you know first hand how addictive Zippys Chili Can be. I for one was born and raised in Waimanalo, Hawaii but now live in Los Angeles. One of the first things I do when I visit home is stop by Zippy’s. With Copy cat recipes like the following Zippys Chili recipe – original style – you can have Zippy’s chili any time, any place you like.
1 lb Ground Beef
1 Round onion
1/4 lb ground Portuguese Sausage
1 large can Red kidney beans, drained
2 tsp Red wine
1 tsp Powdered chicken bouillon
1/4 tsp Ginger
1 Bay leaf, crushed
Pinch paprika
1 tsp Chili powder 1/4 tsp Oregano leaves
Pinch Cumin seed
1 tsp Ajinomoto (MSG)
1/2 C celery, chopped
1/2 C Bell pepper, chopped
Dash Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp Sugar
1 large can Tomato sauce
1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup (optional variation)
Brown the Beef with the onions. Add Portuguese Sausage. When the onions have started to become translucent add the remaining ingredients. Simmer for one hour or to taste. It’s even better the next day.
