Everyone has a favorite restaurant, that favorite dish that makes your mouth start watering almost as soon as you think of it. If we could afford it, many of us would probably eat in restaurants just about every day, however the reality is that it’s just not realistic for the majority of us. What you can do however is start cooking your own copycat restaurant recipes at home. It’s a lot easier than you think to make your favorite secret restaurant recipe right in your own home.

The first step in making a good copy cat recipe is actually finding the recipe itself. There are a number of great resources on the web for copycat restaurant recipes, such as this site right here, you’ll find dozens of popular restaurant recipe clones as well as tips and reviews of the popular recipe collections that are available for sale. Without a doubt, my top pick for the best restaurant recipe collection is America’s Most Wanted Recipes, so much so that this site is practically dedicated to it. It’s loaded with quality copycat restaurant recipes, comes with 7 free cookbook bonuses, and is available for immediate download. There is a reason that America’s Most wanted Recipes is one of the best selling Copy Cat Cookbooks of all time.

The next thing you need to pay close attention to when trying to make a good recipe clone is your equipment and ingredients. I’m not talking about anything fancy or expensive, but rather the simple fact that a small difference in equipment or ingredients can make all the difference in the world. A pressure cooker, as an example, can be the difference between making so-so fried chicken, or chicken that tastes like it does at KFC. Ingredients are vitally important as well. You’d be surprised how many people cut corners and use what they have rather than what the recipe calls for and expect the recipe to come out tasting like the perfect copycat restaurant recipe.

As someone who loves to cook, one of my favorite things to do is to try and reverse engineer top secret restaurant recipes, to see if I can’t match, or even beat whatever heavily guarded secret restaurant recipe has caught my eye.

I’ve experimented a great deal with Chili’s restaurant recipes and even Outback Restaurant Recipes, however lately my thought shave been turned to creating the perfect copycat recipe clone of a Chipotle restaurant recipe.

I decided to experiment with Chipotles Secret Restaurant recipe for Guacamole.

The ingredients I used were basically as follow:

1 large ripe Hass avocado
2 teaspoons of fresh lime juice
Roughly 3 tablespoons of chopped fresh cilantro
1/4 cup finely chopped red onions
2 - 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 seeded and chopped Serrano chili
Salt to taste
I basically just mashed the avocado up with a fork and then added the remaining ingredients until the consistency was right and then served it up with some Tortilla Chips.
That’s about it. I think this was a pretty good clone of the popular Mexican restaurants secret restaurant recipe.

Whether you live outside of Hawaii or you are local and just simply want to make it at home, give this Zippys fried chicken recipe a try and you won’t be disappointed.

1 3-4lb fresh whole fryer chicken
2 cups wheat flour
1 Tbsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp paprika
2 tsp white pepper
1 Tbsp MSG
2 tsp fresh cracked black pepper
2 large pinches of coarse Hawaiian rock or kosher salt
canola oil (enough for deep frying)
warm water (enough to cover chicken)

Rinse and cut chicken for easy frying. Put well rinsed chicken into a clean bowl and cover with warm water. Add rock salt to create a salty brine in which you will soak the chicken for about ten minutes. Drain in colander. Do not rinse.

In a second mixing bowl mix all of the dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly, being sure to remove any flour lumps. Dredge chicken parts well in the dry ingredients, being sure to cover the whole piece. Set aside.

Heat enough canola oil to cover chicken pieces to between 350 – 375 degrees F. Add chicken in several batches for approximately 15 minutes each or until golden brown all over. Drain on paper towels.

Tip: Add a bit of cornstarch for crispier chicken.

Two All Beef Patties:
To get that exact McDonalds hamburger flavor use USDA certified ground chuck. If you can’t find ground chuck use ground beef that is 80% lean. Sear the patties on each side. This is done by pressing down on the burger with the spatula about 20 second after the burger hits the grill or pan for about 2 or 3 seconds.

McDonald’s Hamburger Seasoning:
4 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons Accent? (MSG)
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon onion powder

Mix all of the ingredients well. The best thing to do here is to add the seasoning to a spice shaker with holes that are big enough for ground pepper. Use in a spice shaker with big enough holes for the pepper to flow. Use the season liberally while cooking the McDonalds burgers.

Toasting the Buns for your McDonalds Hamburger Recipe:
To toast the bun for your McDonald’s burgers lay the buns face down on a 375 degree electric griddle. Apply a light pressure to get them even. This should only take a minute or so.

Dressing your Burgers:
For a McDonalds hamburger you basically want to use Hunts Catsup and French’s yellow mustard. As a interesting side not McDonalds used to use Hunts Catsup until the 1980’s when they cloned it much as you are doing now and nearly put Hunts out of business.

The Applebee’s tequila lime chicken recipe makes a simple and tasty meal for lunch or diner. While the chicken requires some cooking and preparation, over all this is an easy restaurant recipe to clone and make at home for you or your family at a fraction of the cost of eating out.

The Applebee’s tequila lime chicken recipe is as follows:

Ingredients:
1 (5 oz) boneless skinless Chicken Breast
¼ cup Tequila (non-alcoholic may be used)
½ cup Lime Juice
½ cup Tortilla Chips
¼ cup shredded Cheddar Jack Cheese
¼ cup Mexi-ranch Dressing (recipe to follow)

Preheat the oven, setting it to broil.

First prepare the chicken by pouring the tequila and lime juice into a zip lock plastic bag. Once you have one this put the chicken the plastic bag and let it marinate for at least 2 hours and ideally overnight.

Dressing:
To make the Mexi-ranch Dressing, add the following ingredients in a small bowl mix:

3 tblsp ranch dressing
1 tblsp salsa

Grill the marinated chicken over a medium heat for roughly ten minutes or until cooked thoroughly.

To prepare the Applebee’s chili lime chicken salad recipe like it is in the restaurant, scatter a handful of tortilla chips on a plate that is “oven safe”, lay the chicken on top of the chips, poor the dressing over the chicken, cover the chicken with the jack cheese, and broil until the cheese is melted. This dish goes great with Pico de Gallo and some Spanish rice as a side dish. As they say in just about every restaurant in the world, careful… hot plate!

Have you ever had a diner at Cracker Barrel only to come home wishing you could have your favorite Cracker Barrel restaurant recipes more often? Those classic southern dishes can really bring you back, but unfortunately the expensive price tag that goes along with eating in a restaurant doesn’t.

Especially in an economy like we are experiencing now, eating out is a luxury that not all of us have. A meal for two can easily run $30 or $40 and that’s just more money than many of us can afford on a regular bases. However, it doesn’t have to be.

Something that many people seem to overlook is that there is nothing magical about Cracker Barrel restaurant recipes or any restaurant recipes for that matter. Sure, they are put together by someone who really knows what their doing, but in the end, it’s only food, and anyone can cook restaurant style recipes as long as they have… well, the secret recipe. And now you can.

The KFC “secret recipe” of herbs and spices is probably one of the most talked about and sought after secret restaurant recipes in the world. No one knows for sure what goes in to the KFC Herbs and spices but there are many who have experimented and feel that they have hit upon the answer.

One popular combination is as follows:

Crushed marjoram leaves
1 tablespoon curry powder
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1 tsp chopped chives
1 tsp chopped tarragon
1 tsp chopped parsley
1 tsp chopped chervil
1 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp cayenne pepper (more or less to taste)
Salt
Pepper

The secret to this particular concoction is to mix the herbs up and put them in a jar. Seal the jar tight and store for roughly one month. Once the spices have had a chance to age and blend together, you can open up the jar and use them in your fried chicken batter.
